Holiday Weekend Starts Out Rainy

The holiday weekend starts out rainy but may clear up by Monday

The start of the holiday weekend will be much the same as we've had for the last several days: wet and stormy.

After finishing the month of June with just over a foot of rain measured at Miami International Airport, we'll keep adding to those totals as wet  afternoons are expected both Friday and Saturday.

But there is some hope as the long weekend goes on.  While showers and storms remain in the forecast, the coverage shouldn't be as widespread on Sunday and Monday.

With shower coverage expected to decrease as the Fourth of July draws close, we should see a little more sunshine in the days ahead.  Our fingers are crossed for dry conditions just in time for fireworks displays across the area.

Keep in mind that the wet weather isn't all bad.  A severe to exceptional drought has plagued South Florida for the first half of the year and these rainy days are just what we need to get out of it.
