Husband and Wife Hold Two-Person Protest Against Gas Prices in Miami

Protesting duo take to the streets as gas inches near $4 a gallon

A husband and wife fed up with high gas prices took to the streets of Miami Wednesday to hold a two-person protest.

Rigoberto and Carmen Carrigan set up shop at the Chevron station at the corner of Bird Road and Galloway Road to voice their displeasure over their pain at the pump.

"We're very upset about it, we can't accept any more this situation," explained Rigoberto Carrigan. Gas prices in South Florida hover around $4 a gallon for regular fuel.

Several passing drivers gave honks of support, including plumber Eddie Briel, who pulled over to share his frustrations at paying about $250 a week on gas to fuel his van.

"It's a lot of money, but I have to go to work," said Briel. "Am I gonna blame Obama? Am I gonna blame Bush? No, I have to go to work."

As the couple looks for work, they said keeping their tank at half full is taking a toll on their pockets.

Though their movement is currently only two people strong, they expect others to join their cause as more South Floridians make the connection between energy prices and the rising cost of living.
