A manatee calf that officials believe was likely struck by a boat was rescued Tuesday in the Florida Keys.

The 275-pound, almost 6-foot-long male was recovered in a Key Largo canal by personnel from the Keys-based Dolphin Research Center and the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission.
FWC Reminding Boaters to Slow Down for Migrating Manatees
The manatee was transported to the Miami Seaquarium for treatment, where a veterinarian said he was suffering from a broken rib "that's releasing air into the body cavity."
Officials nicknamed the manatee "Pilgrim" because of the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, and are optimistic he'll make a full recovery.
