Man Arrested in Dania Beach Murder: Broward Sheriff's Office

Raul Armando Serrano, 28, was charged with first-degree murder.

A man has been arrested after a partially clothed woman was found dead in Dania Beach Saturday.

Raul Armando Serrano, 28, was charged with first-degree murder after the woman's body was discovered on the 3100 Block of State Road 84, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.

The woman, identified as 49-year-old Lacy Michelle Woolridge, had facial injuries and appeared to have been dead for a period of time, according to deputies. Medical examiners determined she died from a broken neck.

According to BSO, Woolridge had recently been released from jail for fraud.

When detectives contacted her parole officer, they led them to Serrano, a truck driver with Prime Incorporated who claimed he had picked up four different women in Miami-Dade and Broward in the 24-hours before he spoke with investigators.

According to an arrest report, Serrano said two of the four women were prostitutes he had sex with in his truck.

Although Serrano told detectives he did not know Woolridge, her purse and her cell phone were found inside his semi-truck, BSO said.

According to the arrest report, blood was found on the floor mats of the cab of Serrano's truck.

Serrano was questioned by detectives but when they left to work on a search warrant for his truck, Serrano tried to hang himself with his belt in the interview room, the report said.

He also beat his head against the table in the interview room, the report said. He was later taken to Broward General Medical Center for treatment for his head injuries.
