A New York man caught a massive 455-pound swordfish off the Florida Keys this weekend.

John White, 33, from Rochester, N.Y., was fishing on Saturday with Capt. Nick Stanczynk and Matt Davis on the charterboat Bn'M when he caught the fish, which took five hours to get in the boat. He used non-electric, conventional fishing tackle.

White said he had daydreamed about swordfishing in the area.

White and his wife Pamela were on vacation to commemorate his recent retirement from the military as a Navy helicopter pilot. He spent nine years in the military.
