Man Sentenced to 30 Years in Daytona Shooting

A man charged with firing a gun at Daytona Beach police officer has been sentenced to 30 years in prison.
 
Twenty-three-year-old Marvin Calvin Jones entered a no contest plea and was sentenced on Thursday.
 
The charges against him included attempted second degree murder and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.
 
Police received an anonymous tip on April 28, 2012, stating a man was waving a gun in the Daytona Beach International Airport parking lot.
 
Authorities said Jones fired at an officer several times and missed. He crashed his vehicle and fled on foot, firing at the officer several more times. The officer returned fire and Jones was shot in the hand, forearms, shoulder and back.
 
Jones' girlfriend was also shot in the crossfire and survived.
