Man Shot and Killed in Miramar

The shooting happened on the 6100 block of Southwest 41st Street

Three men were taken into custody Wednesday after a man was shot and killed on a Miramar street Wednesday morning, authorities said.

The shooting happened on the 6100 block of Southwest 41st Street. The victim was identified as Joey Delancey, 23.

His family and friends stood near his body next to his car, stunned.

"This is a struggle, what happened today I don't know, all I know is they shot him up,” said a friend who only gave her first name of Chandora. β€œHe's dead. He's not here no more. He's gone."

Detectives said several men got into a confrontation with Delancey and one of them shot him and then drove off.

New Renaissance Middle, City Hall and every building at the Miramar Town Center were placed on lockdown following the shooting, according to Miramar Police.

Detectives found the suspects' car at the Miramar Town Center, by City Hall.

Police then found two suspects inside the library. Aerial footage showed police arresting two suspects. Later they found a third suspect nearby.

Police said that they were not looking for any other suspects, but continue to investigate.

While the three men were in police custody, no charges had been filed by late Wednesday afternoon, police said.
