Man Wanted in Miami-Dade Sexual Battery Case May Have Jumped Off Florida Keys Bridge: Authorities

James Dzadura, 38, missing after sending text to relative

Authorities are investigating after a South Florida man wanted by Miami-Dade Police in a sexual battery case may have jumped off a Florida Keys bridge Monday morning.

James Dzadura, of Homestead, sent a text message to a relative early Monday saying he was on the Card Sound Bridge with a 40-pound weight tied to him and he was going to jump, according to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.

When deputies responded to the bridge around 1 a.m., they found Dzadura's minivan parked with the keys in the ignition. A wallet, a 40-pound dumbbell weight and other items were found inside the vehicle, the sheriff's office said.

A cell phone belonging to the 38-year-old man was also found on the railing of the bridge, the sheriff's office said.

Miami-Dade Police detectives, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, the U.S. Coast Guard and a boat from the Ocean Reef Public Safety responded and searched the area but found nothing.

The search was expected to continue later Monday.
