Man's False ID Arrest Leads to Child Pornography Charges in Florida Keys

Man who gave false identification when he was hired by Key Largo resort has child pornography on company computer: Authorities.

A Florida Keys man who was arrested for giving false identification to his employer during the hiring process is now facing child pornography possession charges after authorities say they found the images on his work computer.

Robert Pearl, 39, was originally arrested in February after detectives discovered he and his girlfriend had given the false ID to the owner of Gilbert's Resort in Key Largo when they were hired, the Monroe County Sheriff's Office said.

Authorities later examined the computer Pearl had been using that belonged to Gilbert's, which has images of child pornography.

The resort owners said the computer had been password protected by Pearl and when they asked him for the password, he always had an excuse for why he couldn't give it to them, authorities said.

Pearl, who was still in jail on the fraud charges, is now facing six counts of possession of child pornography. It was unknown whether he has an attorney.
