Miami-Dade teachers voted Monday in favor of a new contract that includes a 100 percent employer paid health insurance premium option, the United Teachers of Dade said.

The contract was ratified by a 63-37 percent margin, or about 4,713 to 2,739, according to the UTD.

In addition to the healthcare premium option, the agreement includes a leave provision that protects teachers holding a Professional Service Contract and language to negotiate the impact of test scores on teacher summative evaluations prior to their final use for 2011-12.

In addition, $14 million will be distributed under the Race to the Top grant based on 2011-2012 test scores.

Negotiations for the 2012-2015 contract will be upcoming, the UTD said.
