Miami-Dade Transit Has New App

Smart phone app to make county transportation system easier to use

Hoping to booster ridership, Miami-Dade Transit has gone digital.

Officials say they've designed a smart phone app that makes the county's public transportation system easier to use. And they also hope it will attract more riders.

Transit Director Ysela Llort says the app simplifies route planning that combines buses, Metrorail and Metromover. She says it will make it a much more personal way of traveling.

The Miami Herald reports the new app has already been downloaded in 57 countries from Pakistan to Poland. It is available in Apple's iTune store. Currently, it's only available for iPhones and iPads. However officials say it will soon expand to other platforms.
