Rider killed after motorcycle hits car, catches fire

A man was killed when the motorcycle he was riding rear-ended a car and caught on fire in southwest Miami-Dade early Tuesday, police said.

The crash happened around 5:15 a.m. as the motorcycle was traveling westbound on Bird Road near Southwest 137th Avenue, Miami-Dade Police spokesman Det. Alvaro Zabaleta said.

Teen Helps Save Mom After Car Plunges Into Canal

The motorcyclist, who wasn't identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle wasn't injured.

No other information was immediately known.
