Navy Training Mine Washes Ashore on Miami Beach

Bomb squad called in after cylinder washes ashore near Collins Avenue and 59th Street

the U.S. Navy confirmed that a training mine washed ashore on Miami Beach Monday morning.

The white cylinder with red stripes washed up near 59th Street and Collins Avenue, Miami Beach Police officials said.

A bomb squad was called in to investigate the object and the U.S. Navy took the device from the beach.

No other information was immediately known.
