Nearly 4,000 pounds of marijuana were found in a shipping container at the Miami Seaport, U.S. Customs and Border protection officials said Thursday.
Bales of the pot, which totaled 3,837 pounds and is worth about $7,674,000, were found this past Friday amid packages of magnetite during a routine quality examination by Customs officers.
Officials said the vessel M/V Stadt Munchen had begun its journey in Australia, but it's believed the marijuana was put into the container during a stop in Kingston, Jamaica.
No arrests have been made, but Customs and Homeland Security are both investigating.
The seizure is one of the biggest for the agency in a while, but not the largest, officials said. Marijuana loads of nearly 5,000 pounds have been seized by Customs in the past.
