The South Florida man charged with murder in the shooting death of his teen girlfriend was ordered held without bond by a judge Monday.
Yoan Raul Dominguez, 21, is charged with second-degree murder in the death of 17-year-old Genesis Fonseca, whose body was found at her mother's house in Hialeah Saturday, Hialeah Police said.
Dominguez, wearing a protective vest, made a brief appearance in bond court Monday, where he was appointed a public defender. He also revealed he lives with his parents and works in construction, making $300 a week.
Police said Dominguez and Fonseca were at the home in the 6300 block of W. 27th Avenue when the shooting happened. Fonseca's mother, who wasn't home at the time of the shooting, found her daughter's body covered in a bloody blanket, relative said.
Dominguez fled the scene and was arrested Sunday in Miami, police said. Police haven't given a motive for the shooting.
A .38-caliber revolver, which is believed to be the murder weapon, has been recovered, police said.
Records showed Dominguez has a lengthy list of prior arrests, including an open case for aggravated battery on an elderly person last month.
Fonseca was the mother of a one-year-old boy. There is a depency hearing scheduled for the child for Monday afternoon, according to the Department of Children and Families.
