An off-duty Lauderhill firefighter was left in critical condition after he was seriously injured off the waters of Haulover Beach Monday, officials said.
Joshua Schwabenbauer, 26, a firefighter and Pompano Beach Ocean lifeguard, is in the intensive care unit at Hollywood Memorial Hospital after he was injured at the beach on Labor Day.
Officials didn't say how Schwabenbauer was injured or give any other details.
Family of Nine Displaced in Lauderhill Fire
In brief statement, Lauderhill Fire Rescue thanks the other local departments for their support, and said the family is asking the public to keep Schwabenbauer in their thoughts and prayers.
