Streets in South Beach Reopen After Officer-Involved Shooting

No one was injured in the shooting

Streets in South Beach reopened Friday night after being cordoned off following an officer-involved shooting, authorities said.

At 3:15 p.m., Miami Beach police were dispatched to the 1600 block of Collins Ave. in connection to a disturbance. No one was injured. The suspect reached for a weapon in his pants, and an officer shot at him and missed, authorities said. The suspect fled, and ran into a parking garage and was taken into custody. The man's weapon was also seized by police.

A central South Beach area, 16th Street from Washington Ave. to Collins Ave. had been closed, and Collins Ave to 15th Street to Lincoln Road has also been shut down.

Aerial footage had showed empty streets with police cruisers, which would normally be busy with afternoon traffic.
