Ohio State Buckeyes, Clemson Tigers Volunteer in South Florida Before Orange Bowl

Members of the Ohio State Buckeyes and Clemson Tigers football teams will be spending a few hours volunteering in South Florida Thursday ahead of their Orange Bowl match up at Sun Life Stadium Friday.

Nearly 200 volunteers, including university officials, cheerleaders, marching band members and family and friends, will join the players in a sort day at Feeding South Florida's Broward warehouse.

"This is just an opportunity for us really to give back to a community," Ohio State President Joseph Alutto said. "So every time Ohio State plays in a bowl game we have a community service project and our students get involved and it's our motto as a university."

"At our school students volunteer all the time, we have over 10 students right now in Haiti and Honduras and Jamaica," said Gail DiSabatino, with Clemson student affairs. "Students volunteer throughout the year."

The goal Thursday is to compile 140,000 pounds of food to distribute to needy families throughout South Florida.
