At least two people were hospitalized after a truck slammed into a motel in West Park Monday morning.

The incident happened around 5 a.m. at the Trio Motel at Southwest 25th Street and S. State Road 7.

Officials said the truck was heading eastbound on Southwest 25th Street when it struck a red SUV that was heading southbound on State Road 7.

The truck then hit the motel, causing a huge hole in the side of the building. Firefighters responded after the truck caught fire, and were able to quickly put out the flames.

One occupant from the truck and one from the SUV were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police said they're looking for a third person who left a blood trail from near the motel as they left the scene. None of the people have been identified.

The owner of the motel, who didn't want to be identified, said she will have to close until the damage is fixed.

“Just to get this going is going to be a lot, it’s not going to get done overnight," she said. "This is a big mess to clean up, financially it’s a big mess."

Neighbor Brian Pressley said he heard the crash.

"I heard a loud sound like thunderstorm like thunder. I ran outside. I saw the truck come out. The other side of the fence," Pressley said.

No other details were known.
