Suspect Fatally Shot Tow Truck Driver, Shot at Deputies: BSO

A tow truck driver was fatally shot by a suspect, who was injured after an exchange of fire with authorities at a Lauderdale Lakes apartment complex Tuesday, the Broward Sheriff's Office said. Christie Owens said she was the ex-wife of victim David Herr. Broward Sheriff Scott Israel, witness Khalel Spencer and Herr's friend Kevin Godfrey spoke about the incident.

A man was killed and woman hospitalized after they were involved in separate shootings in northeast Miami-Dade within a matter of hours.

Dr. Robert B. Ingram School in Opa-locka was placed on lockdown Wednesday morning after officials said there was a shooting in the area.

Classes at the school, located on the 6000 block of Ahmad Street, were not in session, but school officials said some children were there attending summer camp.

Police said they are searching for a suspect who may have been involved in a nearby robbery, shooting the robbery victim in the thigh. The victim was airlifted to a nearby hospital, but the identity and condition of the victim is unknown.

Authorities said the suspect may be on school grounds or in a school building.

Officials have not yet released further details of the investigation.
