Two men were arrested after police say they found hundreds of packages of banned synthetic drugs at two Pembroke Pines convenience stores earlier this week.
Zakaria R. Tuhin, 30, and Detol Khan, 44, were arrested and charged with five counts of distribution of synthetic cannabis after search warrants were executed Monday at Taft Market and Deli at 1591 Northwest 77th Way and The Food Store at 9061 Pembroke Road, Pembroke Pines Police said.
The arrests were the first of their kind in Pembroke Pines since the city passed an ordinance in September prohibiting the distribution of synthetic marijuana.

A total of 681 packages of the synthetic drugs worth about $11,200 were seized from the stores, police said.
Police say undercover detectives bought packages of the banned products known as "Spice" on several occasions over the past few months.

Tuhin and Khan could face additional charges as police await lab results on other suspected illegal substances found in the stores. It was unknown whether they have attorneys.
