Firefighters find puppies in house filled with smoke, flames

A pair of puppies were saved by firefighters after an early morning blaze broke out at a home in Fort Lauderdale Tuesday morning.

Firefighters responded to the home in the 800 block of Arizona Avenue around 9:15 a.m. and found a fire in the laundry room and smoke throughout the one-story house, Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue officials said.

The fire was quickly extinguished and when firefighters searched the home, they discovered the two puppies inside.

The doggies were given oxygen and checked out before they were given back to their owners, officials said. No other injuries were reported.

Fire damage was contained to the laundry room with some smoke damage throughout the house. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
