Robbers Beat Cat Trapper, Steal His Pants in Miami Gardens

Miami Gardens Police looking for robbers who beat man and left him nearly naked

Miami Gardens Police are looking for a pair of men who beat and robbed a cat-trapping man and left him nearly naked in a parking lot Thursday morning.

Police found the victim around 5:30 a.m. after they were called to the parking lot of an Auto Zone at Northwest 2nd Avenue and 191st Street, Miami Gardens Police spokesman Bill Bamford said.

Bamford said the unidentified victim often went the area, where he tries to trap stray cats and feed them and have them spayed or neutered to control the population.

As the victim was setting one of his traps, he was approached by two black males, who ordered them into their car, Bamford said.

When the victim refused, he was approached by the suspects and pistol-whipped several times in the face, leaving him with lacerations.

While he was on the ground, the suspects took his pants and shook his belongings from his clothes, making off with his wallet, watch, jewelry and rented car, Bamford said.

Police found the victim bloodied and wearing nothing but his underwear.

"Here's a gentleman just trying to do the right thing, help control the pet population here in the South Florida area, and he pays with a severe beating and the embarrassment of someone taking his clothes and fleeing the scene," Bamford said.

Police are looking for the two suspects and the victim's rental car, a beige Toyota Camry with license plate S307TG. Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade CrimeStoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
