When Al DiFeo recently announced he was closing his beloved Ocala pizzeria, local patrons and others from around the state rallied to save it.
The restaurant has been packed since DiFeo said last week that Abio's would close on Jan. 25.
Sally Creaser gathered 15 family members spanning four generations at the restaurant Saturday to show their support. Creaser has eaten there for more than 30 years.
DiFeo turned away at least $300 worth of business Friday night as regulars and curious newcomers visited the restaurant decorated with Florida State University memorabilia. There was a two-hour wait for lunch on Saturday.
The Ocala Star Banner reports DiFeo had planned to keep Abio's open another year, but the owner of the building has another business ready to move in.
