A pit bull that was chasing pedestrians in unincorporated Broward County was shot and killed by a Broward Sheriff's deputy Friday afternoon, authorities said.
According to the BSO, the deputy responded shortly after noon to the 1500 block of Northwest 27th Avenue to a call of a loose pit bull acting aggressively and chasing two pedestrians.
One was able to get on a county bus and the other ran across a street.
But when the deputy arrived, the dog aggressively went after them and the deputy opened fire, killing the dog at the scene, the BSO said.
No humans were injured. The dog's owner, who lives in the 2600 block of Northwest 15th Court is being charged with having a dog running at large and will receive a notice to appear in court, the BSO said.
The owner, who wasn't identified, also faces fines from Animal Control.
The incident is still being investigated.
