Police are investigating after a 17-year-old girl was shot in Miramar early Tuesday morning.

The girl was shot around 1 a.m. in the 3600 block of Southwest 60th Terrace, police officials said. She was brought to a nearby hospital and was later released.

"Gunshots is all I heard, gunshots, gunshots, gunshots," the victim, Amani Gilbert, told NBC 6 South Florida.

Gilbert said she was standing outside her home with her brothers when the shots rang out.

"I felt it, I felt it when the bullet hit me," she said. "When I pulled my pants down the bullet fell out."

Bullets shattered the windows of two nearby cars, including Kevin Reid's wife's Lexus.

"Can't wait to get out of here, it's not good, it's not a good neighborhood," Reid said.

Police haven't given many details about the shooting but said they are investigating.
