Police Release Footage of Family Dollar Attempted Armed Robbery

Police are asking for the public's help in finding the two suspects.

Miami-Dade Police are looking for two men suspected of an attempted armed robbery at a Family Dollar Store.

Detectives say two armed men entered the store at 2173 NW 62nd Street on Nov. 23rd at about 1 p.m. demanding money.

A man who worked at the store, 31-year-old Josue Morales, went to get the money as one of the suspects struck him multiple times with the barrel of his gun, police said.

Meanwhile, the second suspect fled the store on foot, causing the other suspect to become distracted, according to police. Morales was able to grab the first suspect's gun, but was shot in the leg as the two struggled over it.

Another store employee, 20-year-old Roshawnda Shropshere, tried to help Morales by hitting the suspect with a pipe, police said. This suspect also fled on foot without taking any money.

Morales was taken to a nearby hospital where he was treated and later released.

Police are asking anyone with information to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS(8477).
