Formal Charges Filed In Lauderhill Cop-on-Cop Shooting

Kristopher John Bieger faces charges of first-degree attempted murder and firing a gun into an occupied vehicle

Prosecutors have formally charged a Lauderhill officer for allegedly shooting at another cop, who was his ex-girlfriend, the South Florida Sentinel reported.

Kristopher John Bieger, 30, faces charges of first-degree attempted murder and firing a gun into an occupied vehicle.  He has been held without bond since his arrest, and he has been administrative leave without pay since the shooting, the newspaper reported.

Brittny Skinner was working her off-duty security job at a shopping plaza in Lauderhill when police say she recognized her ex-boyfriend and fellow officer's pickup truck pull up next to her, according to court documents.

Authorities said Bieger fired 10 rounds from his Glock pistol at Skinner's parked police car, striking her in her bulletproof vest in the 5500 block of West Oakland Park Boulevard.

The affidavit states that they had been dating, but she broke up with him over the phone last week, because of his "controlling behavior" and "severe mood swings."

He did not take the rejection well and "began to cry uncontrollably," and "begged for her to not break up with him," according to court documents.

Police say Skinner had made it clear she was not interested in dating him.

According to a court document, Bieger drove his silver 2006 Chevy Silverado pickup to Donato's Ristorante in Davie. Police say he had called family members and fellow officers to tell them he had shot at his girlfriend's car and wanted to kill himself.

The swat team came through the back door of the restaurant before making the arrest outside the pizzeria.

He has previously entered a not guilty plea to attempted first-degree murder and discharging a firearm charges from a vehicle. He has been with the force since 2006.

A telephone message left for his attorney by the Sun Sentinel wasn't immediately returned.
