More than 300 officials in South Florida - from scientists to elected officials - are expected to attend a regional climate summit in Broward County.
 
The fifth annual Southeast Florida Regional Climate Leadership Summit is scheduled for Thursday and Friday in Fort Lauderdale.
 
Authorities say Broward, Miami-Dade, Monroe and Palm Beach counties, along with local municipalities and others agencies, have collaborated on a regional model

- called the Compact - for effective, bipartisan climate change.
 
Robert Perciasepe, the deputy administrator for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, is scheduled to give the keynote address on Thursday.
 
The event is open to the public and admission is free, but registration is required.
