1 Person in Custody After SWAT Situation in Homestead: ATF

Police, ATF responded to a house in Homestead

One person is in custody after a SWAT situation at a small grow house in Homestead Thursday, authorities said.

Miami Police, Miami-Dade Police and the ATF responded to a home in the area of Southwest 166th Street and Southwest 294th Terrace.

ATF spokesman Eduardo Hally said the person inside the house initially refused to open the door.

There was also a gun inside the house near the room with the plants, so authorities had to use caution when entering, Hally said. About 10 to 15 plants were in the grow house, he said.

The situation developed Thursday afternoon after neighbors reported shots fired, a Homestead Police official said, but it appeared no one had been shot.

Later, members of the SWAT team carried a man out of the house and laid him in the middle of a street, but he then stood up as if nothing had happened, aerial footage showed. He wore the same green outfit as the SWAT team members.

A couple dozen police vehicles had been parked near the scene, but some of them began driving away, the footage showed.
