Two Broward companies were hiring for hundreds of positions on Thursday.
Global Response Corp. in Margate, a family-run call center, needs 200 people to start immediately.
The work ends around Dec. 25 to 27 and the pay is between $9 to $10 per hour, said Frank Shooster, the company's co-owner.
"We need people who are full time, 40 hours, including one weekend day a month," said Shooster.
Qualities Shooster is looking for include clear, articulate speaking skills and enthusiasm, he said.
The company takes orders and handles customer service for large retailers and upscale brands, Shooster said. Employee benefits include discounts on products that are sold by their clients.
Employees will become experts in the products and services they represent before getting on the phones.

Meanwhile, the Seminole Casino in Coconut Creek is extending its job fair, after thousands showed up Wednesday in the hopes of filling one of 800 open positions.
Job seekers were once again lined up bright and early Thursday to apply for the full-time jobs the casino is looking to fill.
The positions are being created as the casino completes a $150 million expansion project, which is expected to be finished by January. It will include a 120,000 square-foot casino plus a brand new parking garage.
All of the jobs will be filled by just after the first of the year, and will include cooks, bartenders and servers as well as dealers, hosts, cashiers and other positions.
Some walked away Wednesday with jobs, but many who didn't get an interview Wednesday were given vouchers to return on Thursday or at a later date.
Employment expert Victoria Villalba said attitude is key to getting hired.
"Prepare your resume. Have an energetic and positive attitude because you are obviously going to be working on the phones and that's what people look for," she said.
