A small plane ran off a runway and crashed into a fence at Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport Wednesday morning.
The incident happened just before 10 a.m. at the airport at 6000 Northwest 21st Avenue as the plane, a Cessna Citation, had problems during takeoff, Fort Lauderdale spokesman Chaz Adams said.
None of the two crew members and six passengers aboard were injured, Adams said. They haven't been identified.
Alexandre Graterol, whose family was aboard the plane, said she got a call from them describing what happened.
"My mother's husband said 'we're going to crash, we're going to crash,' and he was really calm, but his friend was screaming," she said.
Footage from the scene showed the Cessna had run off the runway, through a fence and into a nearby street.
Witnesses said the plane barely got off the ground before it veered off the runway.

Adams said police and fire rescue crews responded, though the plane didn't catch fire. He said a tow truck would have to be brought in to get the plane off the street.
According to the plane's flight plan, it was heading to New Jersey's Teterboro Airport, outside New York City.
"They did a good job. They were able to get it on the ground and no lives were lost. It may look ugly when you look over at the bent metal, but at the end of the day, we have to remember everyone got out safely so whomever they were flying it, they did a tremendous job," said Jeff Moreau, a pilot who came to the scene to get a look at the plane.
