A tree trimmer died Saturday afternoon after possibly being electrocuted on the job in Miramar, officials said.
Officials received the call at about 11 a.m. reporting that Livabon Gerimere, 55, had been injured as he was pruning a tree at a home on 7341 Shalimar Street, said Gilberto Bueno, a spokesman with the Miramar Police Department.
When officials arrived on scene, they found Gerimere unresponsive and it appeared that he had been electrocuted, Bueno said.
Rescue crews were unable to gain immediate access to him for fear that some wires were still live, so they had to wait for Florida Power & Light crews to arrive on scene before reaching Gerimere, according to Bueno. They did not reach Gerimere until shortly after 1 p.m., Bueno said.
Gerimere was pronounced dead on the scene, officials said. The exact cause of death is still undetermined.
