Trio Behind Pompano Beach Sub Shop Break-In May Be Behind 16 Other Crimes: BSO

Authorities are searching for a trio of robbers who were caught on video breaking into a Pompano Beach restaurant and who may be responsible for more than a dozen other similar crimes.

The latest break-in happened just after 11 p.m. on Dec. 20 at Subs, Subs, Subs at 1563 N. Dixie Highway, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.

According to the BSO, the men used a rock to break the front door, then went straight for the cash register but found it empty. They took a look at the safe but it was bolted down, so they left empty-handed.

"I work hard for my money and so does everybody else and we don't need it," owner Janet Weiss said. "And even though they didn't take anything, it's still a broken window and it does cost you money."

In the past two months, 16 similar crimes have been committed by a team of three men in Pompano Beach and nearby cities. A few buildings north of Subs, Subs, Subs, a barber shop was broken into exactly the same way and two flat screen TVs were taken.

The BSO said it's unclear if it's the same men committing the crimes. Anyone with information is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
