Andrea Becomes Post-Tropical Cyclone

Andrea expected to continue to move near the East Coast through Saturday

Andrea became a post-tropical cyclone on Friday evening, the National Hurrcane Center said.

As of 11 p.m., Andrea had maximum sustained winds of 45 mph as it quickly moved northeast at 35 mph. It was located about 15 miles north-northeast of Ocean City, Maryland and about 30 miles south of Cape May, New Jersey.

All tropical storm warnings have been discontinued, the National Hurricane Center said.

Andrea is expected to continue moving northeast near the East Coast through Saturday, with little change in strength over the next 48 hours, according to the NHC.

A turn toward the east-northeast and east was expected for Saturday night and Sunday.

Andrea made landfall along Florida's Big Bend region Thursday and brought rain to South Florida from an outer rain band.

The National Weather Service said three tornadoes touched down in South Florida on Thursday. At 3:20 a.m. a tornado damaged powerlines in Belle Glade. At 6:45 a.m. another in the Acreage injured one person and damaged homes and powerlines. The final one at 8:10 in Broward County, northwest of State Road 27, didn't cause any damage.
