What was Tropical Storm Lorenzo weakened to a tropical depression with maximum sustained winds of just 35 mph over the central Atlantic Wednesday night, according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami.
As of 11 p.m., Lorenzo was moving east at 5 mph about 1,000 miles east of Bermuda.
There were no coastal watches or warnings in effect and no hazards affecting land.
Lorenzo is expected to continue weakening and could become a remnant low by Thursday, the NHC said.
The storm is expected to turn toward the northeast on Thursday, with a gradual increase in speed expected through late Friday.
