Two Men Arrested For Wearing Mask and Scaring Young Girls in Key Largo

Two men were arrested for scaring two young girls, wearing a mask and holding one of them against her will, police said.

Tyler Magoon, 20, and Jared Holmes, 19, were arrested Thursday after being identified by one of the victims they scared while wearing a mask, according to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.

A 15-year-old girl and a 16-year-old girl were leaving a Key Largo park Monday. As they approached their home at Port Largo Villa condominium, they noticed they were being followed, police said.

Police said the girls ran up the stairs. The 15-year-old ran to her door on the second floor, and the 16-year-old ran to the third floor.

The 15-year-old told police she was so scared she had trouble opening her door, police said.

She said suddenly a man wearing an "old man" mask, later identified as Magoon, was standing in front of her not saying anything. She told him if he didn't leave she would sic her dog on him, police said.

She told police he left after being threatened by the dog. She also said she saw another man, later identified as Holmes, standing downstairs looking up. When Magoon was walking away, he took off his mask and the 15-year-old saw his face.

Magoon was charged with false imprisonment and wearing a mask while on someone else's property. In Florida, it is illegal for someone older than 16 to wear a mask that conceals their identity and demand entrance into the house of another person.

Holmes was charged with principle in the first degree to the crime of false imprisonment.

As of Friday morning, both men were held in jail, Magoon on a $33,000 bond and Holmes on a $20,000 bond, according to online jail records. It is not immediately known if they have attorneys.
