Two Men Detained In Miami Police-Involved Shooting

City of Miami Police say the incident occurred early Saturday morning.

Two men were detained after one of them pointed a gun at an officer, who in turn fired back, hitting their vehicle early Saturday morning, according to City of Miami Police.

Just before 5 a.m., an off-duty officer heard gunshots in the area of SW 11 Avenue between 7th and 8th Street.

A man at a bus stop told the officer that he saw shots fired from an SUV with two men inside, and later an on-duty officer saw the vehicle, according to police.

One of the men pointed his gun at the officer, and the officer fired a shot at the vehicle, but no one was injured, according to authorities.

Both suspects fled on foot, and one of the men was accidentally hit by a patrol car. He sustained minor injuries and was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The other man was found in the area, authorities said.

Authorities did not immediately release the names of those involved.
