Hollywood Woman Dies Scuba Diving: BSO

Robyn Spalter, 49, was found unresponsive during a dive to the Guy Harvey wreck

Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives say they are investigating the death of a 49-year-old Hollywood woman who was found unresponsive during a deep dive to a shipwreck Monday morning.

Robyn Spalter was exploring the Guy Harvey wreck with other members of the Gold Coast Scuba Divers when one of them saw her unresponsive near the top deck of the ship, about 116 feet below the surface, the BSO said.

They dived from a private boat about three miles south of the Hillsboro Inlet, according to the BSO. The crew radioed the Coast Guard for help at about 8:20 a.m., and after the BSO’s marine unit escorted the boat ashore, Pompano Beach firefighters took Spalter to Broward Health North in Deerfield Beach, where she died just before 9 a.m., authorities said.

Foul play is not suspected, the BSO said.
