Expect a sunny start to the month of August with hot temperatures in the forecast across South Florida Thursday.

Highs will range from the upper 80s on the beach to the lower and mid-90s in the western areas. Rain chances remain limited Thursday before jumping back up by Friday afternoon.

The weekend forecast isn’t a washout, but shower and storm chances will linger each day. Friday could see afternoon showers and thunderstorms with highs around 91.

Dry, dusty air is currently widespread across the Atlantic basin, suppressing tropical development for the next several days.
