Morning sunshine, then afternoon storms possible.

Monday began with plenty of sunshine in South Florida, with temperatures in the upper 70s to start the Labor Day holiday.

Nasty weather picked up in Browad County, where a flood advisory was issued until 5 p.m. but was cancelled just before 4 p.m. Earlier, the National Weather Service had issued a tornado warning for Broward, but it was later discontinued.

Temperatures were expected to reach 90 Monday afternoon, with a 30 percent chance of afternoon showers and storms. A 30 percent chance of rain will stay in the forecast through Tuesday as well.

Rain chances will drop mid-week, then possibly increase by the weekend.

There are a couple of features in the tropics. One is southwest of Cuba and has a 20 percent of development in the next 3-5 days. It is expected to head west, away from South Florida.

The other feature is entering the Eastern Caribbean, and has a 50 percent chance of development during the next 3-5 days. It may pass east of the Bahamas, but it will be something to monitor during the next 3-5 days.
