Rain Forecast in South Florida Until Midweek

The wet weather is expected until midweek, so remember your umbrellas

The wet weather in South Florida will continue at least until midweek, so plan indoor activities.

On Monday, reports of street flooding in the lower Keys began pouring in during the morning commute, and a flood watch was in effect for South Florida until 8 p.m. This means heavy rain could lead to local flooding.

It was expected to continue raining on-and-off throughout the day and until late Wednesday or early Thursday, when a cold front will make its way through South Florida, drying the air out. Later in the week, temperatures are expected to drop and the showers will dissipate.

Key West already saw 7 inches of rain, setting a new rainfall record for the day.

The Monroe County School District canceled all after school activities and the Key West International Airport was closed from 6:45 a.m. to 9:40 a.m. because of taxiway flooding. It was reopened, but it may close again, officials said. Most of the flights at the aiport have been canceled.

The weekend was especially soggy, with several cities, including Miami, Opa-Locka, and Davie, picked up more than 3 inches of rain.
