Wisconsin Fugitives Arrested in South Florida

Pair captured near Seminole Hard Rock casino in Hollywood

A pair of men who escaped from a Wisconsin correctional center were arrested near the Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood Wednesday morning, authorities said.

James Misleveck, 18, and James Newman, 29, were taken into custody after they were spotted in the casino's parking garage, Seminole Police said.

Police say the two were questioned after they were seen acting suspicious, driving around and looking into cars.

One of the men was taken into custody immediately while the other fled, police said. He was captured a short time later with the help of a Hollywood Police K-9 unit.

Both men were being held at the Broward County Jail. It was unknown whether they have attorneys.

Authorities say the men stole a shotgun after fleeing from the Black River boot camp July 17, stole several vehicles and kidnapped and robbed a woman at a Black River Falls casino.

Jackson County sheriff's officials say the two commandeered the woman's SUV and forced her into the back seat at gunpoint. They drove to Tomah, then Sparta where the men stole a pickup truck. At some point, the woman escaped.
