Police in Boca Raton are looking for a woman who they say walked into the Apple store at the Town Center Mall Tuesday wearing a device on her chest and telling an employee she was in trouble.
The incident happened around 2:30 p.m. when the woman walked into the store and walked to the restrooms in the back, Boca Raton Police said.
Once there, she tried to enter the men's room, but was told that was the wrong one by an employee and instead entered the women's restroom, police said.
After about 20 seconds, the woman left the restroom, walked around the store and entered a second door leading to a back storage area.
When an employee confronted the woman, she unzipped her hoodie and displayed a small black object attached to her chest by a strap, police said. She asked the employee for help but told them not to call police or she would be harmed.
The woman then left the store. Video showed the woman leaving through a service exit and running through the parking lot, police said. When officers responded to the area, the woman was gone.
Police describe the woman as possibly Hispanic, about 5-foot-8, who was wearing a red hoodie, red hat with black visor and black leggings. She had a black bag and a 4X4 black device strapped to her chest, and appeared to wearing some type of audio earpiece, police said.
Anyone with information is asked to call Palm Beach County Crime Stoppers at 800-458-TIPS.
