Wyclef Jean Honored in North Miami

Music artist Wyclef Jean was recognized by the City of North Miami for his work in Haiti.

John Legend Mum on Wyclef's Presidential Aspirations

John Legend, who was honored last night at the Capitol File magazine cover party, said he was not "qualified" to share his opinion the aspirations of fellow artist and Haiti presidential hopeful Wyclef.

Grammy Award winning musician Wyclef Jean was presented with the key to the City of North Miami Wednesday.

Although he is not a resident of the city, Mayor Andre Pierre nominated Jean for his Yele Haiti foundation. Through this organization Jean has established  music education programs and job trainings for the the people of Haiti.

"I accept this award of course on behalf of my late father... and my mom who is with me today," Jean said to the crowd after accepting the key. "Walking in here, I teased my my mom and I said to her 'Look, all the beatings you gave me, they actually paid off."

Jean will also serve as Grand Marshall of the 37th Annual North Miami Winter National Thanksgiving Parade on Thursday.

Miami has a significant Haitian-American population.
