Comcast Unveils New Spanish-Speaking Call Center in Miramar

The new Comcast call center is in Miramar

Florida Gov. Rick Scott helped launch Comcast's new Spanish-language call center in Miramar on Monday.

The national call center is exclusively dedicated to handling sales calls from Spanish speaking consumers across the country.  Scott recognized the company for its effect on the economy by providing new jobs for locals.

Comcast currently has 200 agents to help handle the growing Spanish community and about 75 percent of them were new hires.

Since April, 169 employees have been hired, and a company official said the goal is to create more than 300 new jobs over the next 12-month period.

Scott discussed the drop in unemployment in Florida from 12 percent to 10.3 percent and credits  companies such as Comcast for helping to aid unemployment.

"300 jobs in our state is very significant," he said.

In total, Comcast has about 27,000 employees in Florida.

Comcast Corp. is the parent company of NBCUniversal and NBC Miami.
