Last Ditch Efforts for Senate Candidates

Meek, Crist and Rubio running ragged through Sunshine State day before election

Florida's U.S. Senate candidates are making their final push Monday, traveling across the state to wrangle last-minute votes a day before the election.

Democrat Kendrick Meek began a 24-hour, 11-city campaign blitz Sunday night at the University of South Florida in Tampa, and spent all night going down the Atlantic coast. His marathon day is expected to end in Orlando, where Meek will appear again with former President Bill Clinton.

Meek, who trails both Republican candidate Marco Rubio and Independent Charlie Crist in the polls, spent much of last week denying reports that Clinton had asked him to drop out of the race so Dems could throw their support behind Crist.

Governor Crist, meanwhile, will be making stops in six cities throughout the Sunshine State as he tries to narrow the gap with the frontrunner Rubio.

Rubio will also be making four stops Monday, attending rallies in Jacksonville, Clearwater and Orlando before making his way back to Hialeah.
