Head of South Florida ICE Arrested

It wasn't immediately clear what charges Anthony Mangione faces

The head of  Immigration and Customs Enforcement in South Florida was arrested on Tuesday.

The Broward Sheriff's Office online records didn't show what charges 50-year-old Anthony Victor Mangione faces. The online records show Mangione was arrested by the Marshals Service.

But the Marshals Service said he was arrested by the FBI.The FBI referred all inquiries to a spokeswoman for the Department of Justice, who said she couldn't' immediately comment.

Federal investigators searched Mangione's home in April and found child pornography images on his computer.

Authorities said Mangione is likely to make his initial court appearance Wednesday when the exact charges would typically be made public.

Mangione has been chief of ICE's Miami-based office since 2007. He has been on paid administrative leave since spring.

Investigators previously said the search was based on an alert from America Online, where Mangione had an e-mail account.

Mangione had been planning on retiring this summer after 27 years at ICE and it's predecessor, the U.S. Customs Service.

It wasn't immediately clear if Mangione had an attorney.
