Steve Harvey is known for his razor sharp suits and hair cuts that appear to be sculpted and not styled.

No wonder the NFL picked him to help upgrade seven homes in the Coconut Grove area leading up to the Super Bowl.

On Thursday, the comedian and radio talk show sensation along with a few dozen volunteers rebuilt seven homes as a part of the NFL's "Kickoff to Rebuild," an effort to revitalize neighborhoods near the Super Bowl site.

The organization that is behind the project is called, "Rebuilding Together" and it teamed up with the NFL and Harvey to make this revitalization project a reality. Volunteers spent the day painting, landscaping, installing appliances, and building fences.

Michelle Truesdell's home on Williams Avenue was in desperate need of an upgrade and it didn't hurt that one of her favorite radio personalities was broadcasting live near her front door.

"We got ripped off from a contractor...$82,000. He left the house undone and not up to code," Truesdell said.

Out of money and out of options, she says "Rebuilding Together" came through.

Volunteers with the event added three bedrooms and another bathroom to her small home, who she shares with her 93-year old father and 5 children.

"I don't have to sleep on the floor anymore. I don't have to wait in line to use the bathroom. It changed my life completely," Truesdell said.

Over the last five years, the group has revitalized more than 70 homes in Coconut Grove and countless others around South Florida. The group says its contributed nearly $265,000 of market value work to the community.
