Cruise Line Employee a Real Pirate: Police

Royal Caribbean employee robbed customers who were away on cruises.

Pirates usually do their looting on the high seas, but one cruise line employee flipped the script for months.

Bethsaida Sandoval, 38, was arrested Thursday on over 20 counts of burglary and one count of racketeering after she used her position as a vacation planner for Royal Caribbean to know when her victims would be out cruising.

Sandoval had her husband, John Lopez, break into the homes and steal whatever they wanted without fear the homeowners would pop in. She admitted to police that she would sometimes go along on the looting missions and drive the getaway car.

Authorities investigating the crimes realized all of the victims were robbed while they were on Royal Caribbean cruises. They dubbed the search "Operation Pirate Ship."

The Miami couple's piracy stretched across the Tri-county area for nearly a year, authorities said.

Sandoval is currently being held in a Palm Beach County jail on $70,000 bond. Maybe she could work on getting that eye patch while she's there.
